While David Oh received a 34.7 out of 40 points by the judges, the audience wasn’t feeling him today and he was eliminated from the show.

Recap coming soon.

MBC revealed the number of text votes they received for last week’s show which saw the elimination of Jung Heejoo.  But they only revealed Heejoo’s ranking.  Release the Kraken!

But oh my, the difference between #1 and #2 is HUGE.  So curious.

This week saw the introduction of three new singers Kim Yeon Woo, BMK and Im Jae Bum as well as a new set of rules for the competition.  Since the show has been on hiatus for a month, the singers were assigned to show off one of their personal songs.  Kim Yeon Woo sang 여전히 아름다운지 (Still Beautiful).  His voice is a bit deeper than I remember and while it might all be in my head, I don’t hear that desperateness that was in the original.

BMK sang her hit song 꽃피는 봄이 오면 (When Spring Flowers Bloom).  She’s a vocal teacher so you could tell she was nervous coming back on stage but damn if she didn’t deliver the goods.  I actually like it when she emotes a bit less since her voice is so pretty.

Im Jae Bum sang 너를 위해 (For You).  He was great I felt like he didn’t do as well as he can.  At first I felt like something was off, as if vocal chords had tightened up through the years.  However by the second verse I think he got more comfortable and I started to hear that old school Im Jae Bum bad ass voice.

By the end these were the results of 500 audience members.  No contestant is going home this week nor next week so its really a matter of pride right now.

1.  Im Jae Bum
2.  Park Jung Hyun
3.   Yoon Do Hyun
4.  BMK
5.   Lee Sora
6.  Kim Yeon Woo
7.  Kim Bum Soo

Excited for next weeks episode where they get to sing each other’s songs.  What I wouldn’t give to see Lee Sora rocking with Yoon’s Band.

There are no more female contestants on MBC’s Star Audition Birth of a Great Star now.  Damn.  It came down to Son Jin Young, David Oh and Jung Heejoo.  Of course it was obvious that she was the one eliminated since it seems to be the m.o. of these singing contests to get rid of the girls first.  Recap coming soon.

Rain fangirls over Sting on his twitter after meeting him at the 2011 Time’s 100 Gala.  LOL I never thought I’d see Rain writing “OMG!!!!!!” on his twitter.

*hmmm it seems they edited this article and now its says some other stuff about JiHoon having been a trainee and Mentor Bang defending Jihoon saying there was nothing wrong with him having trained.  so I guess this entire article below that I wrote is false.  arg!  that’s why I hate updating when Korean articles are fresh.*

Throughout MBC’s Star Audition competition there has been speculation that Noh Jihoon had previously signed an entertainment contract and had training prior to entering the show.  Some even speculated that he had already signed with JYP Entertainment while others believed he had an unfair advantage because of his training.

News has just been released that Noh Jihoon did participate in the recording of an OST for a drama called “사랑은 아무나 하나” aka “Can Anyone Love” in 2008.  However a rep for UFO Entertainment stated that while Jihoon did sing a song for the OST he did not sign a contract with the company.  At the time, Jihoon had lost his parents and was not in the position to sign any contract.  Jihoon’s mentor Bang Shi Hyuk also stated that Jihoon told them about the OST recording when he auditioned but that it was edited out of the show.

Personally, I don’t see what the big deal is.  Also while it would be nice if Jihoon got to shop around for a good contract, it seems inevitable that he’ll end up at Big Hit Entertainment (his mentor’s company).

Jay Park’s new songs are leaking onto the internet and I’m sure it will be everywhere within the hour.  And his youtube account and facebook have been deleted.  Poor Jay.

After listening to the album I hate it.  I wish I could say I liked it but even though I am an avid Jay fan, I can’t lie and say it’s anything but bad.  The sound is absolutely generic and lyrics juvenile.  But maybe that’s a good thing because his voice lacks depth to convey anything more than the superficial.  And I know The Quiett can produce some amazing stuff so why wasn’t any of it on this album!? Aigo.

But what do I know.  Usually, my taste in music has the direct opposite correlation to its success in the kpop industry so I’m pretty sure it’s going to be #1.
